Ms Jayanthi K
Mrs. Jayanthi moved to Chennai at the age of 12. She had always wanted to set up a petrol bunk in the city. Her pacifying personality and certain unfortunate events led her to the founding of Shine Trust.
“In 1998, I was 21 and grief-stricken by my husband’s passing. I found myself juggling work and raising my child from being a single parent. I opened a Computer Centre worked till 2008 to support myself and the family. As a widow, I struggled to get by in society, my heart moved to many such women living through their hardships. I started giving free computer lessons at my centre to underprivileged children and widowed women. Around 2008, I met Mr. Irudhayaraj at a convention where I found we shared a common vision.
We registered Shine Foundation in 2009 and started by providing education to underprivileged
children and those with a single parent, and skill development courses for women to encourage women entrepreneurs. In the following years, we engaged in various social-centric events, campaigns and activities that helped thousands of lives and brought awareness to many social issues to the general public.
Mrs. Jayanthi worked towards finding her purpose in life. Now, she strives to have her name syn-
onymous to Shine Foundation.
